This week we head to the wilds of Wyoming. Much of the route in Wyoming is new territory for PedalGR. Wyoming (pop. 75,567) is a mixed bag of many cultures, and you never know what you’re going to run into. You’ll see US-131 from vantage points you likely never have before, and you’ll experience the perils of being a pedestrian crossing 28th St. at US-131. Sounds fun, right!?! It will be, for sure.

We’ll also roll through the Grand Rapids Bike Park (scheduled for renovation later this summer), the former Studio 28 Lot, ride behind Rogers department store, roll down one of the best sweeping downhills in the metro area, and visit Habitat for Humanity’s HQ overlooking downtown. Sounds fun, right!?!

Need to Know:

  • This is a no-drop ride. We will do our very best to keep the group together and make sure no-one gets separated or left behind.
  • This route contains many different riding surfaces, including some unpaved sections. It’s all ridable on a skinny tire road bike, but may require special handling skills or dismounting for short sections.
  • Ride is ~13.2 miles. The ride should take ~1.75-2 hours (PedalGR is not a race).
  • HELMETS ARE REQUIRED on Rapid Wheelmen Club rides. (The insurance company’s lawyers insist) Please email or comment if you need to borrow one and we will try to accommodate you.

I love bicycling. I love Grand Rapids. Even though I'm not from here (I'm from Omaha, Nebraska), I've lived here over 10 years and Grand Rapids is my new home. I'm a commuter, endurance racer, mountain biker, bicycle tourist, tandem captain, fat biker, roadie, and gravel grinder who likes to ride his bike to an occasional brewery, taco stand, or ice cream shop.
