The Buist sharktrike on the Wyoming “velodrome”

I had a friend reply to me that every ride for her is a Taco Ride. I am envious. Not so for me, so this PedalGR ride will have to cover me for awhile.

We are so fortunate to have many great taquerias to choose from, Tacos El Cunado (Bridge, Downtown Market, Grandville, or Burton), Taqueria San Jose, Supermercado, El Kiosko, just to name a few off the top of my head. It’s a difficult decision every year. We’ll head to Tacos El Caporal, a favorite of mine.  Be sure to bring a few dollars or a credit card so you can buy your tacos.

We’ll also visit an overgrown r/c car race track in Wyoming, then head to the GR Bike Park and old GRBMX track via a little .25 mile hike under US 131 and over the Plaster Creek.  We’re only clocking about 8 miles due to dwindling daylight and the taco stop, but it will be a lot of fun!

Need to Know:

  • This is a no-drop ride. We will do our very best to keep the group together and make sure no-one gets separated or left behind.
  • Ride is ~8.5 miles and will have a few stops along the way. It should take about 2 hours with the orchard tour (PedalGR is not a race).
  • HELMETS ARE REQUIRED on Rapid Wheelmen Club rides. (The insurance company’s lawyers insist) Please email or comment if you need to borrow one and we will try to accommodate you.

8/6/14 – Versluis Orchard & Millennium Park

PedalGR, meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 8/6/2014 at Founder’s Brewing Company, 235 Grandville Ave SW. PedalGR is a ride of the Rapid Wheelmen Bicycle Club, but membership is not required to participate.

I’m not sure I can pick a favorite PedalGR route, but our annual pilgrimage to Versluis Orchard is definitely up there. Once again we’ll get a tour of the orchard from Nate “The Farmer” Versluis, himself. Be prepared for a little sand in the orchard for you skinny tire folk, as we haven’t seen rain. Nothing you can’t ride or walk around if you’re not confident in your off-roading skills, and definitely don’t let it scare you from this amazing ride. We’ll get to sample some fruit, but what it will be is a surprise even to me.

Before heading to the orchard we’ll be touring Millennium Park. I will talk your ear off with my adoration of the trails in this huge, priceless park. I love each and every ride there and this will be no exception.

Because of limited daylight, the goal is to leave right at 6:30, if you’re late, you might be able to catch us heading west on Wealthy or the trail to Millennium Park.

Need to Know:

  • This is a no-drop ride. We will do our very best to keep the group together and make sure no-one gets separated or left behind.
  • Ride is ~15 miles and will have a few stops along the way. It should take about 2-2 1/2 hours with the orchard tour (PedalGR is not a race).
  • HELMETS ARE REQUIRED on Rapid Wheelmen Club rides. (The insurance company’s lawyers insist) Please email or comment if you need to borrow one and we will try to accommodate you.
