A visit to the Hillcrest Community Garden in August is never boring. One of the largest community gardens in the Michigan with over 100 plots, urban farming gem is tucked into the Fulton Heights neighborhood on Lyon St and is sure to be packed full of ripe produce of all kinds. We’ll also visit an assortment of sites on the near NE side including Aquinas College, Marywood Campus of the Dominican Sisters, Fulton St Farmer’s Market and the Kent County Jail (not necessarily in that order).
Also, if you’re looking for something to do before PedalGR, the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition is hosting their quarterly Handlebar Happy Hour from 5pm-7pm at Brewery Vivant on Cherry St. Checkout the details or RSVP at their Facebook event.
Need to Know:
- This is a no-drop ride. We will do our very best to keep the group together and make sure no-one gets separated or left behind.
- Ride is about 12 miles and will take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours (PedalGR is not a race).
- HELMETS ARE REQUIRED on Rapid Wheelmen Club rides. (The insurance company’s lawyers insist) Please email or comment if you need to borrow one and we will try to accommodate you.

Sept 11 – PedalGR End of Season Party/Ride
Founders will be closed for our normal End of Season Party/Ride. They are finishing their renovations on the new beer garden, which is going to be amazing! Location of the final party is TBD, but I’m accepting suggestions. Let me know your ideas and I’ll work something out over the next two weeks.
