07-27-11 – Millennium Park and Versluis Orchard

PedalGR, meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 7/27/2011 at Founder’s Brewing Company, 235 Grandville Ave SW. PedalGR is a ride of the Rapid Wheelmen Bicycle Club.

Millennium Park.  Versluis Orchard.  This is the ride not to miss.  Farmer Nate has said it is a surprise what we will be served up on our tour of the Versluis Orchard.  Will it be peaches?  Will it be plums?  Will it be blueberries??  You’ll have to come and ride to find out!  It will be guaranteed fresh and delicious, straight from the tree/bush.

Need to Know:

  • This is a no-drop ride. We will do our very best to keep the group together and make sure no-one gets separated or left behind.
  • Ride is about 16.5 miles and will take about 2 hours (PedalGR is not a race).
  • HELMETS ARE REQUIRED on Rapid Wheelmen Club rides. (The insurance company’s lawyers insist) Please email or comment if you need to borrow one and we will try to accommodate you.

Also check out Bikestock III in the parking lot near Bistro Bella Vita. This celebration of bikes, music, and beer will take place all day during the races and into the evening. Watch bike polo demonstrations, listen to music, hang out in the beer tent provided by WMEAC, or check out the vintage bicycle displays.

07-13-11 – TACO Ride!!

PedalGR, meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 7/13/2011 at Founder’s Brewing Company, 235 Grandville Ave SW. PedalGR is a ride of the Rapid Wheelmen Bicycle Club.

The Taco Ride is upon us. We’ll be touring the SW side, including the new Oxford St Trail and bridge, a stop at The Motion Initiative, Pinery Park in Wyoming, and finally, ending at Pikosito’s on S. Division between Cherry and Oakes for delicious tacos and their famous (at least in my world, because I keep telling everyone about it) salsa bar.

Also, a huge thanks to everyone who joined us two weeks ago for the Rapid Growth: Cycling City event at the Wealthy Theatre. It was a great event highlighting the cycling culture in GR. Also, if you missed it, this past Saturday was the inaugural GR Urban Adventure Race in downtown Grand Rapids. Over 700 participants stormed the streets of downtown on foot and on bike to reach as many checkpoints as they could in 4 hours! By all accounts it was a smashing success. Check out my photos from the event: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fotoman311/collections/72157627162186346/
